Exposed Aggregate Process
Our exposed aggregate process begins with a pea stone cement mix which arrives pre mixed from the concrete plant. We then pour and place the concrete and hand finish to a smooth and level surface. After finishing we apply a chemical retarder to the surface to prevent the top layer of cement paste from hardening. The retarder allows for the concrete slab to cure while also preventing the top surface from hardening. After that we then power wash the top layer of cement paste exposing the beautiful aggregate underneath. Finally, we will add a clear concrete sealer to the surface. This adds a beautiful shine and will also protect the exposed aggregate concrete from wear, tear, and abuse.
Power Washing & Sealing

A proper exposed aggregate sealer will keep this finish in pristine condition so the concrete doesn’t wear down or blemish over time. Before applying the sealer our process begins by cleaning the exposed aggregate concrete. We use an industrial grade power washer to remove any dirt or grime on the surface. We take great care during power washing to avoid any discoloration and ensure the sealer adheres correctly. After the surface is cleaned and fully dried we then apply our Vexcon exposed aggregate sealer. We use a pump sprayer to apply the concrete sealer and then back roll the surface to ensure an even application. Exposed aggregate concrete sealer will add a beautiful gloss sheen while also increasing the overall lifespan.
